The Waiting Game

August 1, 2011 By kalah.newsome

So, this month my sunday school class started a new series. Since we are all in the awkward stage of life, mostly college kids or young adults trying to figure out what comes next, we decided on a lifeway Threads series called “IN TRANSIT: What to Do With Your Wait.” After digging in, I realized none of my waits are all that bad. We decided to list our top three and here’s what I came up with:

[one] financial stability and not being in debt. basically, not being broke all of the time.

[two] to finish school and start my “big girl job.” which woul help with wait numero uno.

[three] every girl’s wait. find the right person to marry. or, in my case, find out if I have snagged the keeper.

NOW that I’ve decided I’m confortable with my wait, God gave me some tests. Fun. My car payment, which I have been paying ALL BY MYSELF [yes, I know I’m such a big girl] is ridiculously high for the worth of my car. AND, since I am getting into student teaching and jazz, I can’t work as much. That means no money for my car. Also, with school, I’ll have no time to do anything but homework and chores. BASICALLY..my wait has turned into a huge frustrating mess. My wait now is where will I get money or the time to do anything ? Then, I got a little “God hug” as we call it in our class:

Matthew 6:25-34. My favorite passage to read when I”m in my worrying, stressed out, on the edge mood. It talks about the ravens and the lilies and how God provides them with everything they need to survive and how much more worth are we than them. If God provides for them, of course He’ll give us everything we need if we have faith that He will provide.

So, waiting game, lets play! I don’t need to have everything figured out or spend time stressing over trying to figure out how I’ll make it because God, who is bigger than anything that can come my way  will provide for me.
