Last on the Bandwagon
October 12, 2016Since summer, I’ve been hearing quite a lot of talk about the Milani Conceal + Perfect Foundation. This week, I finally decided to try out this miracle in a bottle. I’ve heard nothing but great reviews, so I thought I’d try it for myself.
My only “problem” with this foundation is the color choice. For many people, this may not be an issue. But for people with skin as fair as mine- I prefer to call it alabaster- this is a problem. I assumed I would be shade 01. However, this undertone didn’t match well with mine. I have fair skin with a neutral/cool undertone. I decided to be daring and try shade 03 (light beige). For whatever reason, this shade matched my skin far better than the lightest shade. I did have to use quite a bit of concealer to lighten up the center of my face, but it ended up matching quite nicely.
Immediately after I dispensed the foundation on my hand, I realized that this product was THICK! I’m not sure about you guys, but putting thick things on my face really freaks me out. Typically, if something is too thick for me, I add in some of my lavender essential oils from Young Living. The lavender is great for treating blemishes, so I feel like I’m killing two birds with one stone. Yesterday, however, I added some of the L’Oreal Lumi primer… just for some added glow. I was really pleased with the consistency after I mixed it all up.
After mixing my concoction and applying it on my face, I learned two things: this foundation is very buildable. That’s great news for me, because certain areas on my face (specifically around my nose and mouth) require more coverage than others. Another thing I learned was that applying with a brush was far more productive than a beauty sponge. The sponge seemed to soak up a lot of the product, and pick it back up off of my face as well.
One reason I was skeptical about this product is the condition of my skin. No amount of foundation or concealer has ever been able to cover my blemishes for an entire day. I suffer from hidradenitis suppurativa. That’s just a fancy word for intense, painful breakouts (all over the body) that leave gnarly scars. I also have quite a bit of redness that stays on my face. It has been almost impossible for a product to cover those things for an extended amount of time- even with baking, setting, setting spray…the whole nine yards. That being said, I was very pleased with the results I got from this foundation.
You’ll have to excuse the crazy hair in the before picture. I always do my hair last. Clearly, this foundation does a phenomenal job of covering “blemishes” because Lord knows I have plenty of them! At the end of the day yesterday, my foundation was relatively the same. You might be wondering why I’d give a foundation a great review if it was only “relatively the same” after 5 hours… that’s because I PLAYED TENNIS! I put that in caps for two reasons- one, I did something athletic (go me)! For another reason, it’s pretty remarkable, in my book, for a foundation to stay looking flawless after me sweating for an hour and a half.
So, in my opinion, this foundation is definitely worth the try. Besides the color range being kind of a headache, I’d say this foundation is an amazing find.
Love your review! Milani products are amazing, I definitely need to try this foundation. Your makeup looks so gorgeous <3
